Discipline – The Art of Being a Disciple of Greatness

discipline When most of us hear the word discipline, we cringe. It’s not because we don’t want to succeed or that we don’t want to reach a goal. The issue lies in our association with the word- the emotional attachment to how we were punished in childhood for misbehaving. In coaching new entrepreneurs, I find a sticky belief and heavy resistance to creating a new pattern of discipline. The cognitive bias that is loss aversion floods into every thought and habit. Humans are more afraid of what they think they will lose than they are of dying with their purpose even having been un-lived. The pain of letting go of a current identity is greater than the pain of not living authentically…or so they think. (more…)
